open pantry and grden Lari straight to garden she wants to use fig leaves

Tim is doing a Choc corn cone wih chocolate and pop corn. His wife is his inspiration tonight. Pop corn ice cream.
Anushka is doing lemon grass kafir lime leaf ice cream. Coconut marshmallow.
Ben is doing a chocolate whisky ice cream. wants a great balance
Ben is doing a canoli cone And honeycomb
Larissa is doing fig leaf infused ice cream with a filo cone with honey and walnuts on it she is happy with it and then starts frying the cones of filo pastry

50mins left....derek wants popcorn
Tims popcorn is infusing his ice cream
Tim plans 20mins to churn
He is doing a waffle cone using a waffle iron which he has never used before

Tim happy with what he has
Matt says hard to get the fig leaf flavour and is concerned it will be more a vanilla ice cream

Tims ice cream is finally churning he tries his batter and hopes it works
Tim is making caramel popcorn praline for his cones

Nushie has trouble with ice cream.. seems very soft...she strains it and it is in the churner too she starts on her pastry she cones

ben has trouble with cones a few small holes so he dips in choc

Larissa has her ice cream out of the chiller. She is happy with the consistency
Tims cones look to have worked and it is time to plate

Anush is up first she nearly drops them Matt is loving every bit of it gutzy loves it Poh says great..gary said if it was a bit neater it would be perfect

ben is up next they all love them.. still taste the whiskey.. gary said not a great cone poh loves it

Lari alas they cant taste the fig leaf enough.. gary woudnt have known there was fig there. gutzy wanted a syrup to reinforce. matt calls the cone vanilla... Poh said it needs a few surprises

now the favourite tim.... choc corn they all carry on like twits loving it... love the maltezers and so on... they all agree it is he best and the cone is fantastic so tim wins and is now in the top 10

Cooking against Alice wright tonight tim gets 75 mins he picks the ingredient an she kows nothing
The choices tonight are nuts mmm lovely cashews walnuts to name two
Tim picks walnuts
He is making grilled figs with walnut biscuit greek yoghurt ice cream and a walnut praline..he starts off roasting his nuts

And his time advantage is up Alice is happy with the nut choice

Biscuit base is in the oven but poh says make it thinner
Alice making a walnut praline too - Alice learnt from her mistake last time she was here and is keeping it simple
Alice keeps checking in with Tim to check he is going ok he says it is lovely but it means war
Something is wrong with Tims biscuit...sandlike....too much butter? Putting his biscuit in the chiller to try and firm it up

tim starts on the figs he is happy as he puts them in the pan...Alice goes to help him w ith the caramelisation... put a clear bowl over t he top so you can see it... kind

She is on fire... only the buiscuit to go.... cream butter and sgar, egg yolks flour and backing powder... straight into oven

tim ready to asemble.. not happy with biscuit....it is not even the right shape and it keeps crumbling...finally worked

How is Alices... she is very pleased... now to plate it...she is done and offers Tim help.... and time is up

so she is first with a gorgeous dish... they love it the yummy sounds as they eat. Gutsy apple fantastic looks soft but it has crunch
matt talks about bursts of flavour
Gary just glazes over with a lot of chef rant ha ha

now Tim...looks like something i could plate no as they close in looks better...the are enjoying the dish....

Matt scored tim 6 gutzy 6 gary 7 walnuts failed a bit 19/30
Gary scored Alice 9 gutzy 9 Matt 8 and as it should be she wins

they can plan together, go to the pantry together but then they cant see each other again until after the cook
sweet dish 1 plate each must be identical in every way
no seeing or tasting other person elements or dishes
communication is vital...bloody hard task

christina and nicole are indecisive they want to do a tart but not set
derek and anushka, derek wants to keep it simple but anushka has other ideas

75mins is ticking all the time they plan
nicole and christina decide on a spiced apple tart
almost 15 mins down and noone is cooking yet
chocolate mousse with sorbet and praline for derek and anushka
Nushie is yelling to Derek...hilarious as everyone else is yelling

Tessa and tati have different sized saucepans, that is aproblem for sure
nicole and christina seem to be communicating well oops christinas caramel is smoking ...she saves it but falls behind Nicole

Larissa and ben weighing their basil
larissa is ready to cool hers but ben only just put his on the heat
blitzing the basil into the mixture for the pannacotta

Judges talk about all the noise and communicating - is simon really following nushie.. she keeps trying to get Derek to hear.. hilarious

christina and nicole have pastry in the oven

larissa is ready to put her pannacotta in the mould she is pulling hers out of the freezer and is ready to put her pannacotta in the mould but bens is still too warm to put in the mould...she was ready to put hers in the freezer but waits

sandeep has a thick meringue whilst simon has a thin one

praline time for derek and anushka
derek burnt his caramel andNushie looks pissed off
Derek's twill has white patches whilst hers doesnt

ben and larissa have their pannacotta in the fridge now

christina and nicole putting a crumble on the top of their tart they seem pretty much together.... a crumble should make the dishes look the same

sandeep and simon yell across at each other... they seem to be working fine
tessa and tati seem reasonably okay

but god only knows what state derek and nushie are in

praline shard time for ben and larissa
but bens pannacotta is nowhere near set whilst larissas is almost set he begins to stress over it..he should as it breaks as he plates

ben gets the panna right.... then the stupid boy doesn't listen and says I will make a decision

colourwise hers is brighter. they nit pick a bit.... they like it lots of smart thinking sorbets are different.... strong basil flavours
